Blood Falls is a remarkable natural phenomenon located in Antarctica, where a waterfall of blood-red liquid cascades from the Taylor Glacier. First discovered by Australian explorer Griffith Taylor in 1911, its striking crimson color initially suggested the presence of algae. However, further research revealed that the vivid red liquid is actually a brine rich in iron and salt. This brine comes from a subglacial lake that has been isolated for millions of years. When the iron in the brine reacts with atmospheric oxygen, it creates a rust-like color that stains the surrounding ice in intricate patterns.
