The King Cobra, primarily found in India and other parts of Southeast Asia, holds the distinguished title of being the longest venomous snake in the world. Known for its imposing size, this species can reach an average length of 4 meters (13 feet), with some individuals growing even longer. Despite its intimidating appearance, the King Cobra is generally shy and avoids human contact whenever possible. However, when threatened, it can raise a significant portion of its body off the ground and spread its iconic hood, making it one of the most recognizable and feared snakes in the wild. Its venom is potent enough to kill an elephant with a single bite, but encounters with humans are rare, as the King Cobra prefers to retreat when given the opportunity.
