Okiku

According to the story, a young man bought a doll named Okiku around 1918 in Japan as a gift for his little sister. Sadly, the girl passed away from the flu a year later. The family set up a shrine in her memory and placed the large doll on display. After some time, they noticed that the doll’s hair, which was originally cut short, had grown past its shoulders. When the family moved in 1938, they left the doll in the care of the Mennenji Temple in Hokkaido, where the caretakers continue to look after Okiku and her ever-growing hair.
